In an interview with Newsweek, Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director Tai Yasue confirmed that we already know all of the worlds coming to Square Enix's keyblade fighting adventure. 'We're not planning on revealing any surprise Disney worlds,' Yasue said. 'But these new properties gave us a chance to come up with a lot of new and fresh ideas, that there will certainly be a lot of surprises with the gameplay.'
There are nine different worlds in KH3 full of Heartless to fight and details to explore. Unlike previous Kingdom Hearts games, these new worlds in KH3 will supposedly be large, sprawling maps, with lots to keep players entertained. You can cook meals with Remy from Ratatouille, play LCD min-games with Elsa and capture children's screams with Sully and Mike. Here is the full list of Kingdom Hearts 3 worlds, and their corresponding Disney movies.
San Fransokyo (Big Hero 6)- Sora and the gang head to the world of Hiro and Baymax, the defenders of this futuristic, alternate history take on San Francisco. We know the gang will be fighting the Heartless alongside the titular superhero team.
Arendelle (Frozen)- Do you want to build a snowman? How about fight Organization XIII? We know this world will feature all of the main characters from the Frozen sing-a-long experience including Elsa, Olaf and the goofy reindeer. Sora will be able to ride (and fight) the angry snowman Elsa summons to do her bidding, which could potentially be controlled by one of the black-robed bad guys.
Olympus (Hercules)- I have found my way, I will go the distance (with the keyblade.) The oldest world in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The first KH3 demo had you fight the rock titan using the new Attraction Flow theme park summoning mechanic. Hercules, Hades and Phil all make an appearance in the fight against Xehanort and his army of evil.
Monstropolis- (Monster's Inc)- The first Pixar movie on this list is a welcome addition to the universe of Kingdom Hearts. Sora, Donald and Goofy put on a scaly coat of paint to blend in with the world, which turns them into awful freaks. We know Randall, Sully and Mike will show up and players will be able ride doors traveling on thin wires.
The Caribbean (Pirates Of Caribbean)- Johnny Depp might have issues in real life, but in the Kingdom Hearts franchise Jack Sparrow is still everyone's favorite swashbuckler. We know there will be ships, sailing and adventure, though it isn't clear what else will be able to do.
100 Acre Wood (Winnie the Pooh )- Past Kingdom Hearts games have allowed players to jump into the novel featuring the bear and his friends. You complete mini-games and tell Eeyore that things can't be that bad, so expect a similar experience.
Kingdom of Corona (Tangled)- The first new world players got to see from Kingdom Hearts 3 features a full story and a ton of Heartless. Sora, Donald and Goofy join Rapunzel, Flynn Rider and his trusty steed in battle, with the original voice cast returning for the game. You'll swing on some hair and climb a tower, what more could you need?
Toy Box (Toy Story)- Woody, Buzz, Rex, Mr. Potato Head and countless other toys will make their first appearance in the Kingdom Hearts games. You'll pilot toy robots, hang out in Andy's front yard and try to explain to a bunch of sentient plastic why the Heartless are bad.
Twilight Town (Kingdom Hearts)- The classic Kingdom Hearts starting zone will be making it's rightful return.
Kingdom Hearts 3 releases in North America for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on January 29.
